Prepare Your Home For Sale

When buyers are looking for a new home, you want to do everything you can to show them your property’s potential.

Helping them to picture themselves living in your home not only means you receive better offers but also sell more quickly too. Here are a few top tips to prepare your home for sale.

Declutter

Buyer’s can often struggle to see past heaps of furniture and personal items. Decluttering enables buyers to see more of the room and can also make rooms appear larger. Don’t pack away your life, but do try to strike a balance - remember people often buy into a lifestyle

A fresh lick of paint

Try to step back and look at your house objectively - consider if areas can be improved with a quick coat of paint. Don’t go overboard though – you’re just freshening up!

First Impressions Count

Buyers will often drive past a property and rate it’s curb appeal before they express any interest. It’s also the first impression of the home when they arrive for a viewing. Getting this right is key! Tidy up the garden or driveway, clear away any rubbish or debris. Objectively look at the front door – would a coat of paint freshen things up?

Fix, fix, fix

Small outstanding repairs can be easy to ignore when you see them everyday and are too often, just an easy fix! A buyer’s view might be that the property is unloved. This will create a negative response rather than an exited positive one. Take the time to walk through your house, make a snagging list and if possible – get it sorted!
